The Fishing Continued

Now let's see...on Sunday, we went to lunch with Jonne, Susan and Erol at the 5th Avenue Grill.  The food was great.  Erol, Doug and I went to the Coconut Creek Casino for a couple of hours.  Doug won a bit...Erol and I made a donation, but we all had a good time.  We took a few photos that afternoon as well.

On Monday, we went fishing again.  This time, we went out on Captain Jim's boat, Country Club Fishing.  Right off the bat, Kemal caught a dolphin fish (commonly known as mahi-mahi).  They are a beautiful fish and are bright turquoise, green and yellow.  After they die, the colors go away.  Sad because they are so beautiful in the water.  Shortly after that, Doug brought in a big Kingfish.  Last March when we were here, that's what we caught.  They are very good to eat.

Here's Doug catching the Kingfish:

Then of course, to complete the triple crown of Atlantic fishing, Doug landed a Sailfish.

Idil landed another Dolphin fish, much larger than the first one we caught.

Here's a photo of the 3 fish that we kept:

And here's the Sailfish that Doug caught and then released:

What a great day of fishing.  We ate burek that Idil had made.  Burek is a meat pie made from filo dough.  It was so good.  We had the left over burek for dinner tonight.  I've got to find the recipe and try to make it myself.  Kemal works with Erol and we have gotten to know him and his wife Idil through Erol.  They are such nice people and we are so grateful to Kemal for shooting the videos of the fishing.

When we got to the dock, the first mate cleaned the fish for us.

Susan cooked the fish for us that night along with steamed zucchini and rice.  Of course, the occasion called for eating this feast off of the Texaco plates:

We had such a great time with Erol and Susan and thank them for their hospitality and friendship.  It seemed like the time just flew by.

We left there this morning and drove to the other side of the state.  We are staying at the Myakka River RV Resort in Venice.    Tonight, we headed to the beach to watch the sunset.

It's been a long day.  I think I'll have a sip of coffee and then off to bed.
